The Final Mile strengthens local partnerships collectively working to accelerate the installation of complete mobility networks in select U.S. cities. By combining proven advocacy strategies with public communication tools, this effort builds broad support for new, cost-effective mobility networks generating an important mix of benefits including increased bike riding and a reduction in single-occupancy motorized vehicle trips.

Create diverse coalitions of community partners to support complete mobility networks

Building a network of protected bike lanes requires the support of people who only occasionally bike or never bike at all. Community engagement strategies reach deep into underrepresented neighborhoods to more fully reflect community needs in the planning and implementation of each new project.

Build a common value proposition among bike advocates and the wider public.

Utilizing data-driven audience research and creative branding strategies, the Final Mile uses paid media and other communications strategies to demonstrate how bike infrastructure can help everyone accomplish a wide range of personal, social, and economic goals.

We can give everyone more options to get where they need to go quickly and safely by building bike infrastructure into our transportation improvements. No matter if people bike, drive, or walk - everyone’s traffic flow needs are met through careful planning and smart construction.
