A study of 24 electric bicycle riders in the Netherlands found that electric bicycles enabled users to travel longer distances, and therefore serve as a viable option for trips that users perceived to be too long to ride a conventional bicycle. Also, electric bicycle riders traveled out of their way for a more pleasant route.
