Tech Talk: Drainage on an elevated protected bike lane

Though puddles can occasionally have their upsides, generally speaking they’re one of the ancient enemies of the bike lane.

So we were glad to see one of the country’s sharpest-eyed street designers, Seattle city engineer Dongho Chang, share this useful image on his Twitter feed Monday:

That shot seems to be from Vancouver, B.C., often a spot for pretty good ideas — though of course subject to somewhat different design laws than U.S. cities. In any case, we’re always glad to share a little trick that seems to be working.
