Celebrate NYC's latest biking win

The George Washington Bridge is a critical link in greater New York City’s bicycle network. Commuter and recreational bike traffic over the bridge has grown so much that recent counts show nearly as many bicyclists as motorists on Rte. 9W north of the bridge!

Despite our growing numbers, bridge users on bikes have contended with formidable safety and access issues. Two weeks ago, the Port Authority announced that the bridge would finally receive a bevy of critical bicycle safety improvements, including the elimination of cumbersome stairs on the north path and a dangerous hairpin turn on the Manhattan approach to the south path.

This is a big win for bicycling in NYC. And it only happened thanks to the dedication of local bicycle groups, led by our friends at Transportation Alternatives

On April 24, pro cyclist and PeopleForBikes supporter Tim Johnson will be in NYC helping us celebrate this victory.

While Tim is in town, you are invited to a special indoor cycling fundraising event in Tribeca with Transportation Alternatives.
