Why I Ride: Because I Can’t Run!

Why I Ride: Because I Can’t Run!

First of all, I enjoy riding just because.  Secondly, I ride because I can no longer run or do other sports that require any  type of running or eye/hand coordination. I developed a neurological disorder several years ago causing me to have ataxia.  My ataxia is caused by spinocerebellar degeneration which causes incoordination and loss of balance. I discovered a recumbent trike a few years ago and now log in about 1,500 miles a year. I have also done a couple of century rides as a fundraiser for the National Ataxia Foundation and raise over $3,500 this year!

Hope to see you on the road!
