Shed the monster work week

Shed the monster work week

I work in child welfare, an often under appreciated, traumatic and demanding field. My bike gives me solace. I spend evenings after work in spring, summer, and fall riding my bicycle. I spend most day light hours on weekends outside on my bicycle. I have learned to appreciate hill climbs for the challenge they provide me and the joy of the descent. I have explored my new home state, Oregon, on bicycle and can not think of a better way to see the scenery. Since I started cycling two years ago, I have trained myself to complete century rides, gained great confidence in myself and my abilities, and shaken off the bad and the stress of my job. I have seen waterfalls, covered bridges, tree farms and fields of tulips and daffodils. This fall, I will participate in my most strenuous and demanding ride to date, Cycle Oregon. I will ride over 400 miles and climb over 20,000 feet in 7 days. I can not wait to see a new part of my state, and Idaho too or to test my endurance and abilities! I am the strongest I have ever been, I talk about the joy that cycling brings me to anyone who will listen and am excited to continue to grow, learn and explore on two wheels.
