Mind. Body. Environment.

The first time I really started riding to work was when I lived in central Illinois. During my time there, I was working at a job I wasn't really into. In fact, it stressed me out so much I was breaking out in hives all over my body. Even my face. Once spring time hit, I bought a new bike and vowed to ride to work when I could. I won't forget that first five mile ride. The air swished around me. I felt more alive and one with my surroundings than I have since I was a kid. I would forget about the worries and stress of work. Those five miles were my absolute zen. I couldn't have been more in the moment and peaceful. I felt my mood lighten and was able to tackle the day at the job I disliked so much. After an exhausting day at work, all I wanted to do was get back on my two wheeled horse. To live, to let the stress melt way, to be. Years later, I'm living in Arizona. My job is close to home and can again bike to work (even when it's 50 degrees out). It feels amazing. I get a cardio workout, my mind is peaceful and I'm lessening my carbon footprint. The benefits are endless. I'm hooked on biking, always have been. So, why not give it a try. You have nothing to lose. blog comments powered by Disqus
