It took FOREVER to save the money

It took FOREVER to save the money

It was 1961 and I was starting a paper route and needed a bike with big baskets. Winterset Iowa  had 3 hardware stores. The Gambles store had a Schwinn Phantom in the front window which cost $75.00 when most bikes of the time were $50.00. It took FOREVER to save the money for it. Every day after school I would go by the Hardware store to see if it was sold. I enjoyed the bike and it made me money too. I didn't know that it would be one of many bikes I would buy in my life time.
