From “Fat” Amy to “Fast” Amy
Amy Wise - Chapin, SC
In March of 2012, I went to a doctor due to the fact I was feeling nauseated every evening. After being weighed at 198lbs for my 5' self, I realized something had to change. I started walking daily, changed my eating habits to everything healthy, and joined a gym. By August of that same year, I was getting back to a healthy weight. I started spin class and attended three days a week for the next 6 months. I found my love for cycling then.
In February 2013, I bought my first bike. A second hand hybrid bike from an Air Force soldier. I named her Sliver Sable and we rode everywhere. My favorite rides are from my house to the lake so I can. We completed our first triathlon together on July 14th, 2013 and came in 4th for the novice class.
On July 20th I received my first road bike and competed in my second triathlon on July 27th. I finished 2nd in my age group for the triathlon. I finished with a bike time of 47 minutes for 13 miles. I am in love with anything that has to do with my new bike. I ride all the time and love the fact that I can keep up. I also love the challenge on the road to get faster and faster. I have broken 30 mph going down hill and broke 25 mph on flat road.
As much as I hate saying this word, "fat" Amy has now become "fast" Amy.blog comments powered by Disqus
