Exploring Ohio with New Friends

Exploring Ohio with New Friends

I belong to a group of 50 female cyclists called BABES. We are ages 40-70 and all live fairly near each other. When I joined the group there were maybe 5 people involved. It has grown by word of mouth.

We ride average about 3 times a week, and every year we plan a special long multi-day trip. Last year it was Cincinnati to Cleveland, this year Cincinnati to near Toledo. Along the way we explore the bike paths, backroads, history and beauty of Ohio.

Biking helps my physical and mental health, is my social life, helps me get out and enjoy the change of seasons, helps me discover wonderful gems right in my backyard, and has brought me many new friends. When one of us is having a bad day, she e-mails her bike sisters and says, "I need to BIKE IT OUT," and we come to give her support.

For new cyclists we have BRA RIDES—all the support you need!

Cycling has enriched my life is so many ways. If I go three days without a ride, my legs start talking, "We need a ride!"
