Beads on the Spokes & Handle Bar Tassles

I only vaguely remember my first bike. It was pink with training wheels, tassels on the handle bars, and those multi-colored beads that you clip onto the spokes. There have been a few other bikes since then, including my current bike, an old blue Univega with a hamburger bell that sits outside of my apartment on Fulton Street in Brooklyn. I love that bike, and I think we have an easy, comfortable relationship that works because we take care of one another. I peddle, it moves. It carries my groceries, and I give its tires life. We both enjoy the ride. But I know that sometimes I don't treat it as well as I should, given all that it does for me. I keep it locked outside year-round. Its chain is rusty and grip tape weathered, but it has failed to let me down and always helps me get where I need to go. I'm not sure if I'll have this bike forever or if it'll go the route of my other bikes. But I love this bike for now, and shouldn't that be good enough?
