36 years of love
Darla Bennett - Muskogee, OK
I got my first bike (well, actually it was trike) when I was two. I think the photo says it all. I lived on my tricycle until I graduated to training wheels on a bicycle. I was a big deal the day I finally got the trainers off. Since then, I have enjoyed many happy years in the saddle. I took up riding on the regular, again, about seven years ago. It has brought me countless hours of joy and I have met the best people in my community through our shared love of cycling. We have a truly great group of people here who could care less what your preference is (touring, mountain biking, road racing, cx racing, or just taking the cruiser out on the paved trail, our group is varied).
I met a girl a few years back who was in her late twenties and had never learned to ride a bike. She had just bought her first bike to give it a try. On the one hand, I couldn't imagine a life without cycling. It has always been a part of my life. On the other hand, I envied her excitement at getting to fall in love with it all over, again. But then again, every time I get on bike, I feel at least some level of that same excitement and super-happiness that I felt as a two-year-old finding that tricycle under the tree on Christmas morning.blog comments powered by Disqus
