Coming this fall: the real version.
PlacesForBikes will release its first round of city ratings in fall of 2017. It’s a data-driven approach to identifying the best U.S. towns for bicycling and rewarding those that are improving the fastest.
The ratings will be based on several factors, including publicly available data on ridership and safety, and new data gathered by our team via the Community Survey, City Snapshots completed by city officials, and our new tool to measure the quality of the biking network.
The Community Survey and City Snapshot survey closed April 15.
The Community Survey asks questions such as how safe biking feels, whether it’s getting better, and about favorite places to ride. Thanks to everyone who completed our Community Survey. We had responses from all 50 states across the U.S. and are analyzing the data for the first round of city ratings.
The City Snapshot gathers data on a city’s existing bike network and planned improvements to provide a full picture of bicycling in the community. Thank you to all the city staff that submitted snapshots. Cities and towns that completed Snapshots by April 15th, 2017 will receive a free bicycle network analysis.
