Major momentum
The peopleforbikes.org pledge count topped 60,000 on September 1, and 70,000 should quickly follow. August was an exceptional month for our campaign, thanks in part to the support of more than 1,000 bicycle retailers coast to coast who have been enthusiastically gathering hand-written pledges at their sales counters. Look for PFB in your local bike shop to score a free button.
Today, as the Labor Day weekend approaches, a huge stack of completed pledge forms awaits data entry at campaign headquarters here in Colorado. Meanwhile, we continue to benefit from the top-notch assistance of bike companies (mostly web-based promotion), special event organizers and individuals. Several PFB supporters are conducting personal pledge drives by photocopying pledge forms, then collecting signatures downtown, at the mall and at concerts. That’s awesome…and one reason that 100,000 People for Bikes can’t be too far ahead.
