Bicycle Cities: a plan for car-free communities
What do you think it would be like to live in, work in, or visit a community where there were no cars? The idea for a Bicycle City was first conceived in the 1990s, and now the idea may be finally coming to life. Bicycle City South Carolina is an eco-friendly, car-free community being built between the mountains and the beach near Columbia, SC. It will feature miles of biking and hiking trails, kayaking on the lake and convenient parking on the edge of the community.
On December 11, the community will host a ceremonial ground breaking, and home sites will be available shortly after. If Bicycle City South Carolina is successful, the group plans to create more Bicycle Cities around the country.
